The Heart sees things clearly and love is its natural quality” – Osho
An Evening of the Work of Byron Katie
The Work is a very powerful, simple process that can be used to question all the thoughts that bring us pain and suffering.
We use it to look into our own minds to find the place of peace that is normally hidden by our stories of good and bad, of like and dislike. Nanda and Ashik Lynch are Certified Facilitators of the Work and sannyasins for most of their lives. They can show you the Work in a compassionate and meditative way.
“The great way is not difficult for those who have no preferences. When love and hate are both absent everything becomes clear and undisguised. Make the smallest distinction, however, and heaven and earth are set infinitely apart. If you wish to see the truth then hold no opinion for or against….The struggle of what one likes and what one dislikes is the disease of the mind.”
– from the third Zen patriarch Sosan, quoted by Osho in “Hsin Hsin Ming, the Book of Nothing”
Center pass holders free, others $7.00
Quantum Light Breath Meditation
The Quantum Light Breath is a breathing meditation that energizes the body and mind, and facilitates releasing withheld feelings and revealing unconscious programs. It is designed to take participants into an expanded state of consciousness. Many participants report experiencing that they feel a deep connection to the Universal Intelligence, or Oneness.
Center pass holders free, others $7.00 There will be a half hour sharing after the meditation.
One participant describes this meditation as:
“It’s a beautiful meditation, very intelligently designed. It is a guided meditation, but the spoken word is very minimal, and the music accompanying the meditation is very supportive. Most breath techniques awaken the primal energy, but can be difficult to stay with. The Quantum Light Breath meditation awakens primal energy and does so in a very supportive way so it’s easy to complete. The overall effect is a deep cleanse and rejuvenation. The mind tends to slow down or even stop in the midst of a deep awakening of primal energy.”
Eugene Gendlin’s Focusing
Psychologist Eugene Gendlin’s six specific steps for opening the inner world of deeper feelings and intuition, grounding experience in the body, and finding ways to articulate how we are in a deeper way in our lives in this moment.
“You are invited to begin this journey of inner awareness and artiulation. There is something alchemical which happens when we tune into our bodies in a deeper way, a learn to hear/feel what is there coming from our inner source. To be speak from that place, to articulate what we feel and sense on that level is something really special – and totally ordinary at the same time. We begin to feel in touch with ourselves, at home in our bodies, and in tune with our emotions. Try it, and see.”
This description of focusing is from Gendline’s website. This is what we practice when we do focusing – getting underneath feelings, which most people can articulate with some accuracy, and getting in touch with a deeper layer of our consciousness. When we articulate from that level, we begin to feel a movement inside which is freeing, bringing light and a sense of understanding about ourselves which is very different from “figuring things out.”
Zazen and Sharing
This is an opportunity for us to sit in zazen meditation. We will also have an opportunity to share how our meditation practice is going, and how we can support each other in our continuing practice.
